June is my favourite month for a number of reasons. The first is my birthday, and let’s be honest, who doesn’t love birthdays?! But also because it marks the start of the summer food season here in the UK and there is a seriously large amount of incredibly delicious fruits and vegetables coming into season.
My favourite food is strawberries so the fact they come into season in June is good enough for me to rejoice and do a happy dance. But tomatoes also come into season now, along with courgettes, Jersey Royal new potatoes, spring onion, cherries… the list goes on.
I recommend heading to a market if you can, you’ll probably be able to find some really awesome varieties of fruit and veg that you can’t find in supermarkets, like orange tomatoes and purple carrots – yum!
