This year I’m going to do something a little different and focus mainly on eating and cooking with the seasons. This is mainly because I’ve now got the keys to my very own allotment! I’m going to try growing as much of my own fruit and veg as I can (If you hadn’t noticed, I’m essentially 25 going on 70, but I’m not ashamed!). Below you can find a list of what’s in season? January.
I’m doing this, partly for environmental reasons and because I love spending my weekends outdoors; and partly I love of the novelty of cooking for friends and family and being able to say: “oh yeah, I planted, grew and cooked everything you’re eating.”
I’ll be documenting all the delicious food I’ll be growing all year round. I’m going to do little guides along with what I’m growing and what’s in season here in the UK. I’ll also add in lots of pictures.
Sadly the plot I’ve inherited is very neglected, so I’m going to have to do a fair bit before I can start growing things. So for now most of the photos on here are pictures of other allotments. But, I have inherited one homegrown vegetable: Brussels Sprouts! (I’m overwhelmed with joy… ).
