I love fruit – I guess having a food blog called “My Fruity Kitchen” is a bit of a give away of that! But my absolute favourite is strawberries, especially in smoothies. I reckon I have been having this strawberry and orange smoothie at least 4 times a week for the past 2 months. It really is delicious.
It’s packed full of healthy foods and it’s really filling. I tend to have it as a meal instead of breakfast or lunch and it always fills me up. It’s perfect for when you’re feeling a little hungry but you don’t want to have too much, or if you don’t really have the time to make something big but want something healthy.
I know strawberry and orange aren’t a traditional flavour combination, but seriously they really work together. The sweetness of the orange balances out the slight sourness of the strawberry so no need to add any sweeteners.
This strawberry and orange smoothie also has blueberries which add a lovely flavour, banana which makes this smoothie really creamy, spinach adding a little healthy kick, oats which make it super filling and coconut water and yogurt. You could easily leave out the yogurt and substitute the coconut water for plain old tap water if you wanted to cut the cost and it would still taste delicious, I just like the slight coconut hint that they both give the smoothie.
