Hey! Welcome to My Fruity Kitchen. Grab a fruit cuppa and let’s get acquainted.
My name is Kerry and it’s berry nice to meet you! (I know, my puns are fantastic!). I’m the smoothie addict behind My Fruity Kitchen. I live in the South East of England (near London), with Pip the dog, Lord Voldemort the rabbit and Ed, my handy food taster and dish-washer-upper!
Like pretty much every person I know, I LOVE food. More to the point, I love fruit and veg. There are probably some people reading this and thinking “that’s not my idea of loving food” but please bare with me!
For me, I think food not only feeds your body, but your soul (that’s the most philosophical I’ll get, I promise!). It always amazes me to discover what you can actually create with a humble vegetable and some fruit; and how you can make traditionally unhealthy food, like chocolate, taste delicious and be healthy.
I started this blog when I was stuck in a rut, as a way of encouraging myself to eat healthier, and it worked! Starting My Fruity Kitchen has made me look at food from a completely different perspective and improved my relationship with food immeasurably. It’s also kindled a love of growing food which I never knew I’d have. I am now the proud owner of an allotment – essentially I’m 26 going on 60!
All of the recipes on my blog are vegetarian, as I’ve been vegetarian for as long as I can remember. Before I started My Fruity Kitchen, I lived off mash potato and Linda McCartney sausages with beans, and while I still eat that from time to time, in the last few years I’ve realised just how delicious home-prepared meals can be, and more importantly – how simple and cheap they can be too!
My aim with this blog is to show people just how simple and cheap it can be to create recipes filled with seasonal veggies and fruit. I’ve added a cost to the bottom of each of my recipes too, which I base on the prices listed on Ocado.com. I want to remove the myth that it’s expensive, which I think comes from all the recipes online which contain obscure ingredients. Hopefully these will be few and far between on this blog! You can find recipes where each serving is less that £1 here, and other recipes where each serving is less than £2 here.
Thank you for dropping by and reading my ramble, I love talking, so if you want to get in touch with me, you can do so on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, or you can email me through my contact me page.
